The Handy Paint Pail was initially conceived in 2001 by Mark Bergman in a classic Do-It-Yourself fashion. While painting around his house using a standard "coffee can" paint container, Mark's hand started to tire. To solve this problem, he fashioned a strap out of duct tape, thus giving birth to the Handy Paint Pail. The disposable liners, sold in packages of six, are manufactured in the USA using 100% recycled materials. These liners make clean-up a breeze and allow for quick color changes. In December 2003, disposable covers were added to the product line to prevent paint from drying out during tasks.

After the success of the Handy Paint Pail in 2004, there was a demand for a larger container that could hold more paint while maintaining the same features as the original pail. This demand led to the creation of the Handy Paint Pail PRO SERIES, which includes liners. This multi-use pail features a built-in bracket, magnetic brush holder, roller grid, and tool and rag holder, making it ideal for any project on or off a ladder. Responding to customer requests, the Handy Ladder Hook was developed to securely attach the Roller Pail or a standard paint can to any ladder.

One of Bercom's most successful products in 2008 was the Handy Paint Cup. While not as feature-rich as the original Handy Paint Pail, this entry-level paint cup offers customers a more affordable option with the same level of quality.
